Wolves Secure the Services of Talented Spanish Winger Pablo Sarabia

Wolves Football Club, commonly known as Wolves, is a professional football club based in Wolverhampton, West Midlands, England. The club was founded in 1877 and has a rich history in English football, having won the Football League Championship three times, the FA Cup four times, and the Football League Cup twice. In recent years, the club has established itself as a strong competitor in the Premier League, the top tier of English football, and is known for its consistent performances.

In line with the club’s ambition to continue competing in the top half of the premier league table and make a good run in Europa league, Wolves have announced the signing of Spanish winger Pablo Sarabia from Paris Saint-Germain (PSG). The 30-year-old has put pen to paper on a three-year deal, becoming the third signing of the Julen Lopetegui era. The transfer fee is believed to be around £18m, which could rise to £20m with add-ons.

Career at PSG

Sarabia joined PSG from Sevilla in 2019 for a reported £17m. He quickly established himself as a key player for the Parisians, scoring 11 goals in 35 Ligue 1 appearances in his first season. However, the arrival of Mauricio Pochettino as head coach in January 2021 saw Sarabia’s playing time decrease, and he was sent out on loan to Sporting CP for the 2021-22 season. He made 14 appearances for the Portuguese side, scoring four goals and providing three assists.

Experience at Sporting CP

Sarabia’s time at Sporting CP was a successful one, as he helped the team finish third in the league and qualify for the Champions League. He was a regular starter for the team and was praised for his performances by the coach and the fans. Sarabia’s experience in Portugal will be a valuable addition to Wolves’ squad, as they look to make an impact in the Europa League next season.

Reunited with Lopetegui Sarabia is well known to Wolves’ boss Julen Lopetegui through his time in the Spanish national age-group teams, and the two crossed paths briefly at Sevilla. Lopetegui was the head coach of the Spanish U19 team when Sarabia was part of the squad, and they also worked together at Sevilla for a short period of time. However, Sarabia never played a competitive game under Lopetegui before joining PSG. This reunion could be a perfect opportunity for the two to work together and achieve success for the club.

Fitting into the team

Sarabia’s signing is a significant one for Wolves, as he brings a wealth of experience and quality to the team. He is a versatile player who can play on both wings and as a central attacking midfielder. He is known for his pace, technique, and vision, which will make him a valuable asset for the team in the final third. Sarabia’s arrival will provide competition for places and will increase the team’s depth and options, as they aim to continue to compete at the highest level.

Wolves fans will be excited to see Sarabia in action and will be looking forward to seeing him make an impact in the team. The club’s ambition is to continue to compete in the top half of the premier league table and to make a good run in Europa league, and Sarabia’s signing is a step in the right direction towards achieving that goal.
