Bristol Signs Max Malins from Saracens for the Next Competitive Season

Max Malins had a rough season. He lost the England spot just when the season was concluding and was excluded from the training camp in the capital of Albion. He spent the 2020-21 season at Ashton Gate where he was on loan for the whole season. While he performed well during his time with the Bears, the indefinite position of the young fullback was something that intrigued both experts and fans who have been looking forward to seeing Max Malins on the main roster.

The next season is on loan, again…

Saracens have just returned to the league after the punishment which was relegation to the second-tier RFU Championship following misconduct and salary mishandling allegations. Max Malins barely missed the relegation while spending time at Ashton Gate where he played well scoring 18 tries over his 19 appearances for the team. While not instrumental, he was a huge contributor during international games as well.

Judging by statements from coaches and managers, it was not certain whether the club failed to get him on a full contract. Certainly, fans, managers, and experts wanted to see Max Malins on the team as a regular. He is a great player and fits the style of the Bears quite well. Regardless of what is happening behind the curtains, the current situation is that Max Malins will be joining Bristol for another season from Saracens.

The deal sees a two-year contractual obligation from the player. However, technically, he is still on the Saracens roster.

The future for Max Malins is still uncertain

Malins is just 25 years old. He is a promising player whose abilities are best displayed when he is himself on a good team that can support his plays. Bristol was the place where he shined brightly. Undeniably, he wants to continue playing with the club that allowed him to fully develop and play at his fullest potential.

The contract with Saracens is holding the talent back. The director of Rugby at Bristol Pat Lam noticed that Max is currently one of the best players in the Gallagher Premiership and needs more space to develop. Malins is also very happy with the team which he expressed multiple times over his career.
