Barcelona and Manchester United May Be Plotting to Get Marco Asensio

Marco Asensio has remained part of the largest Spanish football club “Real Madrid” for the past 7 years. Finally, it seems that the time has come for the player to make a move out of the club.

Asensio’s Contract is Close to Expiry

Marco Asensio, the 26-year-old Spanish attacking midfielder/winger is close to completing his contract at Real Madrid.

The player has been part of the Spanish club for 7 years and now, his remaining contract at the club is less than 12 months.

The player has spent a somewhat fine tenure at Real Madrid demonstrating good performances even against major clubs such as Barcelona.

However, the player has faced many ups and downs throughout his career at Real Madrid as well. For this reason, the player may be uncertain about his future role at the club.

Asensio Not Happy with Carlo Ancelotti

Marco Asensio and Carlo Ancelotti do not seem to be happy with each other as the Real Madrid boss doesn’t seem to be letting Asensio show off his potential.

Even in Real Madrid’s last match against Mallorca where the club largest Spanish club registered a 4-1 win, Asensio was not made part of the squad.

Carlo Ancelotti decided to bench the player for the match, leaving the winger up for substitution, making the 26-year-old extremely frustrated.

Asensio is yet to make a first team appearance for any of the matches in the running season. So far in the running reason, the player has been allowed to play only for 17 minutes and was added to only two matches.

Asensio registered his total play time of 17 minutes in two matches where he made substitute appearances.

Ancelotti Spoke the Truth

As the recent transfer window came to a close, Ancelotti admitted that Asensio is not happy and wants to leave the club for good.

The Italian boss revealed that Asensio is indeed looking for openings and wants to see if his future would be bright at other clubs.

Ancelotti stated he would respect Asensio’s decision if he decides to move out of the club. If he does not leave the club, he would definitely be Real Madrid’s first choice player.

The manager did mention that he does not know what the player may decide in future. He hinted that the player may look for other club options in near future.

Barcelona and Manchester United to Make a Move

As the reports are gaining weight, Barcelona and Manchester United are growing more and more interested in the player.

It is being expected that both clubs may make their move to acquire the player as the January transfer window opens.

For now, it is not confirmed which club will be able to sign Asensio but if Barcelona does it, then it will be the first time after Javier Saviola’s 2007 signing that would be from Madrid to Barcelona.
